June 2003 Norfolk Electric has been awarded a contract to provide electrical construction services in connection with Harvard University's new Center for Government and International Studies (CGIS). The project will consist of two new 4-story buildings, encompasses 225,000 square feet, and will house the University's Government Department, Data Center, faculty offices, classrooms, a library and a cafe. Norfolk will be responsible for bringing power, lighting, security and life-safety systems to the complex. The project is scheduled for completion in early 2005.

Harvard University's Oxford Street Parking Facility, a five-level underground lot for which Norfolk is providing lighting and power, including a 13.8KV substation.


Norfolk Electric and JF White Contracting, who collaborated on the Post Office Square Garage more than a decade ago, have teamed up on this project, which employs similar techniques such as slurry-wall construction.
